Solution Architecture (SA)

Solution Architecture is the last phase in the enterprise architecture development process. The solution architecture combines and aligns processes, requirements, principles, goals, strategies, models, information etc from the loosely coupled viewpoints (Business, Information & Technology) to solve a specific business problem. Following activities include in a SA initiative:

  • Develop a solution architecture framework consists of structured processes and templates:
    • Templates are used to capture scope of the solution, requirements of the solution & design of the solution
    • Structured processes are used to document, develop and maintain the solution architecture
  • Define and describe the scope of the solution
  • Define and describe the requirements of the solutions, followings stakeholder's views are considered:
    • Business Requirement view
    • Security View
    • Information view
    • Application view
    • Usability view
    • Technology view
    • Acquirer view
    • Integration view
    • Infrastructure view
    • Operation view etc
  • Relate the requirements directly to the architecture componets (Business, Information & Technology)
  • Describe and develop the design of the solution
  • Relate the solution to the EA Master Planning
  • Relate the solution to a project proposal, i.e RFP (Request For Proposal)
